As usual there are some edits on the new Now 40 cd and I would like to seek help in explaining the dj cd singles on which the following edits originated:

3:58 edit of "Cheers" by Rihanna
4:05 edit of "You And I" by Lady Gaga

Both of these edits were on the Promo Only samplers we receive.

"Cheers" by Rihanna was the album version faded early, not
edited, from what I can tell. It was, of course, censored.

My question is: was "Moves Like Jagger" censored?

The word "sh-t" in the 1st verse was ducked.

I was able to get the uncensored (i.e. commercial download) version from the German commercial CD single, the only source for the single version in lossless format, to my knowledge. I did do spectral analysis and verified that it is indeed lossless. (Something not true of Britney Spears's "Gimme More" -- both the import CD single and the US promo CD single, as well as my old MusicGiants download were taken from MP3s!)

"It Girl" by Jason DeRulo is the censored version that I've heard on the radio.

Can anyone who has picked up a copy the Now 40 CD please provide a list of the Top 40 songs that appear to have come from mp3 sources? The Now series used to be a go-to source for me to get a lot of radio edits/versions of current Top 40 hits, but I've been shying away from the series as of late given this recent disturbing trend of songs being mastered from mp3s.

I just checked NTWICM 40 in Audition 3's spectral view, and
I can confirm that no tracks are from mp3s.

Can you cite which volumes allegedly have tracks from mp3?
If I have them, I can check them out.

There's an excellent in-depth discussion on the Lossy sources on big 2009 hits thread regarding some of these offending CDs. It documents numerous examples of "lossy" tracks on the Now 31 and Now 32 discs in particular.

It could be that they decided to stop the practice.
