my commercial 45 for the stampeders song "sweet city woman" issued as bell 45120 states the run time as 3:15 and does indeed run that length and is just a fade of the full length 3:25 version.....if you fade for 0:10 from 3:05 to 3:15 you'll effectively re-create the true vinyl 45 version....this 45 run time info s/b added to the db.....

I'm having a problem syncing these. There seems to be a couple of extra banjo strums in the intro of the 45 that throws the stereo CD source off somewhere in the first 11 seconds when I line them up in Adobe Audition. My 45 source is YouTube, although it comes from a poster that's very reliable and it's not a speed issue. He shows a stock 45 copy before playing it.

I synced my copy of the mono stock Bell 45 with the Rhino Have A Nice Day vol. 6 stereo track, summed to mono and slowed down to match the 45's speed and couldn't hear any differences between the two during that first eleven seconds. The results were the same between the Bell stock 45 and the track from the Bell 6068 Sweet City Woman vinyl LP.

As long as I have that same Bell LP on the turntable, here's a note for collectors of original American vinyl issues of Cancon top 40: "Carry Me," the lead-off track from the album, was the Stampeders' first Canadian hit and was issued as a single by U.S. Polydor (MWC was the band's longtime Canadian label.) The mix on the mono U.S. 45 is comparatively sparse, while the stereo mix on the U.S. Bell 6068 LP has added instrumentation, in evidence from the very first note.

good catch Yah Shure. The lightly strumming lead guitar that is present
in the stereo mix is missing from the US mono 45 for the first 35
seconds. I never knew that. I wish I knew if the Canadian mono 45 is
the same. The song reached #2 in Canada.

Unfortunately, I don't know what my CD source is, but the difference seems to come between 9-11 seconds. It doesn't seem to be a record skip and the CD source seems to be tape. Very odd.

Bumping this old thread, Both Ed and Jim report a run time
of 3:15 on their respective 45's. I have a dub of a 45 (I
think from Yah Shure) that runs 3:17 (just shy of 3:18.)
Is it possible there are 2 separate 45's? I'm probably
splitting hairs, but when I folded the stereo version to
mono and slowed it down to match the 45 it runs 3:17.

45 is sped up a bit. And also a bit different due to the
banjo strums. MWC Canada is Music World Creations, the
label who recorded this originally and released it in
Canada. Also, there is a French version. I hope to find a
MWC original 45 in English. No styrene. Bell styrene is
very delicate, and among the worst.
