There appears to only be one CD with the correct single edit... and I don't own it. :-(

Would anybody be willing to post the correct edit points to take the album version (4:30) to the single edit (3:43)?

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Huh! Never realized before that the 3-inch CD single is the album version!

Afraid I can't help on this one...

Not sure it can be done. Cold ending sounds different between the 2 versions.

I've done it, but I seem to recall it's either an out-of-sequence edit or looped ending. It's been many years since I've re-created it.

As well as iTunes.

That's where I'll need to grab it from, then... thanks, everyone, for your replies!

I seem to recall that my stock copy faded a few seconds before the cold ending. It really made me mad back then. I'll have to pull out my copy and check it again.

MPH711, you're right about that ending. Annoying! Still, if that was the "hit" version, that's the version I'm going to play.

I'm going to look at it more in-depth in a couple of days, but the out of order editing I think AaronK was remembering may have been a repeating the first verse... I'm gonna have to A/B compare it in more detail later this week to be sure.

Once I figure out the edits required, it's tempting to make my own edit from my CD. The iTunes version (& I assume the partnering new CD) is really squashed! You may not hear it that much at first, but open it up in an audio editor and you'll see all those clipped & crushed peaks.

...Of course, the great news about THAT, is that it's now just as loud as the latest Green Day recording. Isn't that wonderful? *rolls eyes*

Going back and reviewing the readily available 45
version on OCC Rocks, it's my opinion that the
whole album (at least digitally through Rhapsody, iTunes
etc) is way over compressed.

I went and tried to recreate the 45 version myself but
had a little trouble since the very end sounds looped.

Has anyone else successfully recreated the 45 version?
