my commercial 45 issued as epic 50931 of jimmy hall's hit "i'm hapy that love has found you" states a run time on the label as 3:19 and does indeed run that length and is an edit of the 3:59 full length cd/lp version.....this info should be noted in the db.....thx for the edit, aaron, from a long time ago....edtop40

For a major-label low-charting hit, this song would be
completely, entirely forgotten if Rhino hadn't included
the LP version on Radio Daze Vol. 4 (1995). It
sounds quite nice here.

Two others use the same analog transfer as Radio
Daze
, and they're digitally identical to each other:
Simitar's Love Rocks Vol. 5 After Midnight (1998)
and Sony's weird cheapie Hits Of 1980 (1999).
Both sound good as well.

To recreate the 45 edit, here are editing instructions:

Segment 1:
About 8 beats long, starting on the first drum downbeat.
Extends from 0:00.0 to 0:05.5 of both the 45 edit and LP
version.
Ends on the bass drum hit slightly before the downbeat.

Remove the 8 beats from 0:05.5 to 0:09.9 of the LP
version.

Segment 2:
Begins and ends on the bass drum hit slightly before the
downbeat.
Extends from 0:05.5 to 0:28.2 of the 45 edit.
Extends from 0:09.9 to 0:32.6 of the LP version.

Remove the 32 beats from 0:32.6 to 0:50.0 of the LP
version.

Segment 3:
Begins and ends on the bass drum hit slightly before the
downbeat.
Extends from 0:28.2 to 1:33.5 of the 45 edit.
Extends from 0:50.0 to 1:55.4 of the LP version.

Remove the 32 beats from 1:55.4 to 2:12.7 of the LP
version.

Segment 4:
Begins on the bass drum hit slightly before the downbeat.
Extends from 1:33.5 to 3:24.3 (end) of the 45 edit.
Extends from 2:12.7 to 4:03.5 (end) of the LP version.

Your mixdown will run about 3:20 without outro silence,
3:24.3 including outro silence, with edits at 0:05.5,
0:28.2 and 1:33.5.
