So is this one an edit of the LP version?

Years ago, I purchased the import CD, The Heart Of Rock And Roll: The Best Of Huey Lewis & The News. It's available on Amazon for a decent price, and it contains the 45 version of this song.

This is a terrific collection, and also has the 45 mix/ending of "I Want A New Drug"! Very much worth the tiny price!

About the Japan CD "The Heart Of Rock And Roll: The Best Of Huey Lewis & The News" (Toshiba EMI "TOCP-7395")
All their Top 40 hits contain LP materials. Beware!

Perhaps, the 45 version has 3 edits and an fade out.

So, abagon, the Japanese CD is different than the one I posted?

I bought mine in the 1980s, when it seemed like import CD's were the only way to get a definitive hits collection
from many artists. I think I paid $17.00 for mine back then.

Yes. "Walking On A Thin Line", "I Want a New Drug", "The Heart Of Rock & Roll" and "Small World" are LP version on the Japan CD. The Japan issue CD "The Heart Of Rock And Roll: The Best Of Huey Lewis & The News" released in September in 1992. Also, the Japan CD isn't printed a barcode on the front and back cover.

There are, indeed, three reasonably easy edits plus an early fade to make the LP version the single version:

Remove 0:00 to 0:14
then
Remove 1:22 to 1:30
then
Remove 3:31 to 3:45
then
Fade to 4:01
