I have an old tape recorded off of WLOL in Minneapolis around 1986 that is an edit--it is not the early fade found on the 45 version. I own commercial and promotional copies of both the 7" and 12" singles and none of them have this version. It is hard to describe, but basically involves removing 2:46.8 to 3:04.82 and then cross-fading the 2:34.06-2:46.8 and 3:04.82-3:17.55 sections. I have recreated this version from the non-remastered 90125 CD and it sounds pretty, close although it seems the very end of the cross-fade sounds a bit different from the version I taped off the radio (could just be the low-quality of the old casette).
Is anyone familiar with this edit? I would be happy to shoot a copy of the original recording and my recreation to anyone who is interested.
Thanks!
