According to the database, CD appearances of Bread's "Baby I'm a Want You" run anywhere from 2:19 to 2:29. Does anyone have actual vinyl 45 and LP run time information to pass along? I'm trying to determine if the wide range of CD times are the result of a difference in version, length, and/or speed between the 45 and LP.

My Mono/Stereo promo 45 has a listed run time of 2:25 on both sides. I timed the mono side out to 2:31. I timed the stereo side out to 2:28. The end fade does get pretty low and stays low for several seconds, so it may also be possible that some reissue engineer faded it completely before the full fade out was finished.

My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (2:25) and an actual time of (2:27), right around what Tom came up with for the stereo side of his promo 45.

Nice work, Tom and Jim. So far, we can basically sum up "Baby I'm a Want You" as follows:

(DJ copies of this 45 state (2:25) on both sides, but the actual run time of the mono side is (2:31), while the actual run time of the stereo side is (2:28); commercial copies run (2:27)).

Does anyone have Bread's Baby I'm a Want You vinyl LP from 1972 who can verify the title track's run time for us?

I would suspect stereo sides of the promo and the stock 45 were the same version...but it is definitely 2:28 as the fade gets VERY VERY low (i had to do a "maximize" to 99% on the fade out of my digital dub to get the accurate timings on both sides). Matrix number on the stereo side of my promo is: EKS-45751-A-SP and has a handwritten date 9-22-71 in the trail out along with what looks like the letters CKD in cursive.
