In the database, this one is still listed as unavailable on CD. However, I just picked it up on iTunes. According to them, it's on the Press For Play CD. Maybe, it's the import version?

Yep, it's only on the import version of Press To Play.

Thanks. (And sorry about the title mistake. Since I actually own that one on vinyl, you'd think I'd get it right. ^_^)

Anyone have first-hand knowledge of the difference between the DJ edit and the stock 45 version?

Wish i did.....I had the DJ 45 once upon a time, lent it to a neighbor with a bunch of other things....who then moved to a new state.....and when the family returned, my records were nowhere to be seen.......

Now all i have is the Canadian 45 which ill assume is the same as the US Stock 45.

AFAIK, Pat does not acknowledge import CDs because it confuses things, and because of the nature of imports (strange versions, wildly sped up tapes, domestic availability, unless he's changed his position.

I know he doesn't. In fact, the listing in the database is quite clear. "Not on a DOMESTIC CD"

And, after listening to my purchase off iTunes, I have to say that I'm not overly impressed. Sounds murky to me. But it'll have to do until better comes along.

Yes, the DJ edit is just an early fade of the stock 45 & LP version.

Thanks Aaron! That will save me from sinking 17.00 or so into the promo 45 that's for sale.

At what part? Can you supply a dub?

Using the LP version, I started the fade at 3:35 as Paul sings "Spies Like Us" and fades all the way out by 3:46. Total file time is 3:49.

Agreed. I keep hoping "Spies Like Us" will be reissued on another CD in better sound quality so I no longer have to listen to the tinny transistor-radio-like audio on the U.K. import Press to Play disc. In the meantime, when I can get around to it, I plan to tweak the EQ on the import CD to see if the sonics can be improved.

I matched my fade out to the actual DJ 45, and you have it exactly right. It should start at 3:35 (full volume) and fade to 3:46. The last thing you can hear is "spies like us" before it fades all the way out.
