This is yet another track that slows down unexpectedly toward the end of the song, due to tape drag or something like it. (See the thread for Taylor Dayne's "Tell It To My Heart".)
These CDs include the full LP version and do NOT show the tape drag effect. These all run at 109.8 BPM throughout:
  • One Good Reason (Chrysalis VK 41578, 1987; 4:55)
  • The 80's Greatest Rock Hits (Vol. 6) - Agony & Ecstasy (Priority P2 53681, 1993; 4:57)
  • Hot Sounds (PolyTel Canada 836 076-2, 1988; 4:55)

This CD has the full LP version and shows the tape drag. It run about 110.2 BPM at the beginning and slows to about 109.2 at the end of the track:
  • After Hours (Silver Eagle Warner Special Products OPCD-4523, 1990; 4:56)

These CDs include the 45 version and do NOT show the tape drag effect. They all run at 110.1 BPM throughout, except where noted:
  • The "A" List Disc 46 (Swaitek, 1994; 3:46; 109.8 BPM)
  • Audio Buffet 2 (Chrysalis promo ABCD 2, 1987; 3:43)
  • CDCard 1989 (EMI UK CDCARD CD 535, 1997; 3:43)
  • More Greatest Hits Of The 80's (Disky 8-CD set DB 854902, 2000; 3:43)
  • Rock On 1988 (Madacy ROK-2-1988 Cema S21-18694, 1996; 3:45)
  • Sounds Of The Eighties - 1988 (Time-Life R988-10, 1995; 3:45)
  • This Is Music 4 (Quality Canada QRSPD-1077, 1988; 3:44; 110.2 BPM)

The 45 version of "Don't Shed A Tear" is also available on
Paul Carrack - The Story So Far: Greatest Hits. Didn't see it listed in the database. Perhaps, an import.
Also included on that CD is the 45 version of "Silent Running."

It's a gradual slow-down starting around 2:30. And it's only for the full LP version found on the 3-CD set After Hours from 1990.

Your 45 edit should be just fine.

Hi guys, how are you? I want to tell you that I am a big
fan of Paul Carrack, and Mike & The Mechanics. I had the
chance to meet Paul Carrack in Liverpool in 2016, then it
was a show, really a unique experience.
Regarding the contribution made by Ron (it's really
excellent) of the single "Don´t Shead a Tear", I add some
considerations that seem important to me:
There are several versions of this single, I will detail:

- Album Version (4:55)
- 45 Version (3:42)
- Remix (Tom Lord Alge) (4:17)

- Single Version (?) (4:05)
According to discogs, there is a version that runs at
4:03, I never heard it, I couldn't find 45 of this single
either, neither in physical nor digital format, at least
as far as I know, there is no edition of this version in
some compiled cd of various artists, paul carrack was not
released in any cd either.
It may be that this version is an error in the loading of
information in discogs, or that such a version really
exists, I appreciate any information that any member can
give regarding this.

If you look at the photos in the Discogs link, you will see that the person who entered the times switched the A- and B-side timings. 4:03 is printed on the label for the B-side "Merilee."

It's probably as you say, Aaron, but that duration time
also appears on the 45 released in France, here you can see
the photos of the vinyl and that duration time in discogs.

The latest link you posted is for a French 12” (not 7”), and the label also
credits Lorg-Alge as the remixer. I suppose it could be a slightly shorter
version of the remix or a timing misprint.
