Here are some more corrections to the book that I have noticed during the past few years.

1) ZZTOP - LEGS
The version on Greatest Hits (Warner Brothers) is not the Eliminator LP version as mentioned in the book. It is a remix. I believe it is an extended version of the 45 mix.

2) BILLY JOEL - SHE'S GOT A WAY
The hit version of this song was live. The book doesn't mention the original version of the song that is on Billy Joel's first album Cold Spring Harbor (Columbia CK 69390 - latest reissue). It's in stereo and runs 2:54. You do, however, mention that Joel's Say Goodbye To Hollywood that is on the Turnstiles CD is similarily the studio version and not the live hit version.

3) ELTON JOHN - THE BITCH IS BACK
The version of this song on Greatest Hits 1970-2002 (Mercury) and perhaps other CD's, omits the :03 intro of guitar sounds and countoff on the original Caribou album. I don't have the 45 to check, but I wonder if it omited this intro as well.

4) HELEN REDDY - EMOTION
The book lists the 45 version of this song on Greatest Hits and More (Capitol) as being stereo. It sounds mono to me. The mix on this version is a little different. The drums aren't as loud at the begining.

5) JERRY BUTLER - NEVER GIVE YOU UP
The book doesn't mention any difference between the mono and stereo versions. The stereo version on Best of (Rhino) has a horn overdub not on the mono version on Iceman/The Mercury Years (Mercury). I don't have the vinyl, but my guess is that the stereo version is the LP version and the mono version is the 45 version.

6) EDWIN STARR - TWENTY-FIVE MILES
The book doesn't mention that this song is on Very Best of (Motown), although the other hits from this CD are mentioned. It is mono and runs 3:19. Perhaps the fact that the CD lists it as 25 Miles instead of Twenty-Five Miles has something to do with why it was missed.

7)JIM WEATHERLY - THE NEED TO BE
The book doesn't mention that this song is on The Buddah Box (Essex 7060). It is stereo and runs 3:52. The other hits from this box set all seem to be mentioned.

8)RAY PETERSON - CORINNA, CORRINA
The book lists the stereo version of this song as being an alternate take. I think I read on another board a while back that the stereo version of this song is a 1964 rerecording.

In response to singleman's comments:
1) Yes I agree that the "Greatest Hits" version of Legs is a remix and it is an extended version of the 45.
2) Yes I should (and will) add the "Cold Spring Harbor" version of She's Got A Way.
3) There are actually 3 cd's listed in the 10th edition that do not have the :03 introduction found on "The Bitch Is Back" and those are Time-Life Ultimate Seventies - 1974, Elton John's Greatest Hits 1970-2002 and Time-Life Sounds Of The Seventies - 1974.
4) Yes the 45 version of Emotion by Helen Reddy is mono.
5) I have the stereo LP of "The Ice Man Cometh" which
included "Never Gonna Give You Up" and the horn overdubs are not included on the stereo LP. I do not have the 45 version but as I recall from hearing it a million times on the radio, it does not have the horn overdubs either so I don't think there is a 45 version and an LP version of this song.
6) Yes I have entered the version of "25 Miles" by Edwin Starr as found on the "Very Best Of" cd to the database for the 11th edition.
7) Yes I have added the version of "Need To Be" by Jim Weatherly as found on the "Buddah Box" to the database for the 11th edition.
8) This stereo version of "Corrina Corrina" sounds so close to the original that I have traditionally called it an alternate take. Whether it is actually a rerecording I do not know but in any event the reader is aware by my comment that it is not the original hit version.
