The Top 40 hit "Let Me In" by the Osmonds appears on four CDs in the database with a run time of 3:37-3:38. However, the song is shown with a time of only 2:33 on The Osmond Family Greatest Hits CD (Polydor 4400656340), yet there is no accompanying notation explaining what this shortened version is. Is the 2:33 run time a 45 or DJ version/length? Or something else? Or perhaps just a typo?

Todd, the (2:33) time is a typo as the correct time is (3:33). There is still a :05 difference between the various entries for this song and since I do not have the vinyl 45 or LP I cannot help in trying to get actual running times of either.

My commercial 45 states a running time of 3:38 but only runs 3:21. I don't have the LP but I've compared it to the 3:37 version on the The All-Time Greatest Hits Of The Osmond Family box set and the 45 sounds to me like just an early fade of the box set version.

I can confirm Paul C's findings: My commercial copy states (3:38); actual time is (3:20).

Thanks for the input, Pat, Paul, and Jim. According to the All Music Guide website, "Let Me In" first surfaced on The Osmonds album The Plan and is shown listed with a 3:39 run time. Thus, research seems to suggest that the 3:37-3:38 length that has been popping up on CD is the LP length. Does anyone have a vinyl LP of The Plan who can confirm the actual run time of "Let Me In"?

For the record, it appears The Plan LP was issued domesically on CD in 2001 on Curb 77956. Unfortunately, if you're able to find a used copy of this out-of-print disc, you can expect to pay a sizable premium for it!

The cuts both before and after "Let Me In" on "The Plan" LP kinda run together (a la Stevie Wonder/Moody Blues.) It's easy enough to locate the first note here, for this "no intro/vocal start" track, but at the (3:36) mark, late into the fade of "Let Me In", the LP's next track, "One Way Ticket To Anywhere", kicks in, obliterating any possible final seconds to "Let Me In."
