My commercial 45 has a listed time of (2:18), and an actual time of (2:25). The 2 CD appearances are (2:29), so the "pitch gremlins" could once again be up to their old tricks!

Can't speak for the 45 since I do not have a copy but the LP running time is (2:20) not (2:18) as stated on the record label and the LP is only :01 faster than the cd appearances. The cd has the "Time After Time" repeated 7 times at the end of the song so you can listen to the 45 to see if there is a speed difference of a length difference.

Pat, my 45 only has 5 "Time After Time" repeats at the end. Therefore, the 45 is an early fade of the CD.

Hmm this is strange as the LP has "Time After Time" repeated 5 times also at the end of the song but the LP runs (2:20) while the 45 runs (2:25).

No sweat, sir. I think I have that turquoise A&M LP too, the one with Chris' face on the cover, somewhere here as well. I'll just shoot both versions out to one of the Board's "go-to" audio guys, and we'll sort it all out soon. Happy holidays, Pat.

Thanks to James Abbott for reminding me that we never really wrapped this topic up completely. Here are the facts:

45 running time is (2:25)
LP running time is (2:20)
45 has :03 additional music
45 is :02 slower than the LP so that acounts for the :05 difference betwen the 45 and LP
CD appearances are longer because they repeat the line "and time after time" 7 times at the end of the song while the 45 and LP repeat this line only 5 times. The cd pitch is between the 45 and LP pitch.
