according to the website http://www.columbia.edu/~brennan/beegees/68.html, the mono "I've Gotta Get A Message To You" 45 runs faster than all LP and CD appearances. It times to 2:59 where the "stereo" 45 versions run at the master speed and run 3:05 (fading a little later too). It also mentions that the LP version runs slower than the master speed (among its other differences). So the true single speed has yet to appear on CD (mono or stereo).

David: I have just timed my original Atco 45; It does have both a listed and actual run time of (2:59), so the information you have cited would appear to check out.

The new Bee Gees box set of 1st/Horizontal/Idea contains what is labeled as "mono single version" on the bonus disc of Idea. This track runs about 1% slower than the LP version, with a running time of 3:00. There are some other audible mix differences as well, including some prominent violins during the intro on the LP version that are not on the "mono single version".

Has anyone compared this box set to the 45?

For anyone owning the (3:05) stereo 45 version, you can correct the speed issue by increasing the pitch by 1.25%. After increasing the pitch, cut off everything from 3:00.10. Finally, highlight the last 12 seconds of audio, and perform a fade out.
