I recently downloaded the stereo version of LaVern Baker's 'See See Rider' from iTunes, and it is missing the background vocals in the instrumental break that appear on the re-issue 45 I have. I don't know which is the 45 version.

Thanks for your question Paul because when I did some research on this topic, I discovered that the stereo LP version is not the same as the mono 45 version as it is a different vocal take and has different overdubs. If anyone has the mono LP version please let us know if the mono and stereo LP versions are the same or does the mono LP include the 45 version?

To answer your question though, the mono version on cd like the JCI 3552 "Best Of" include the background vocals during the instrumental break and is the 45 version. So it looks like the reissue 45 is also the original 45.

my commercial 45 for the lavern baker song 'see see rider'
issued as atlantic 2167 lists the run time on the label as
2:32 but actually only runs 2:29 and is identical to the cd
version on jci 3552....this 45 run time s/b added to the
db...

The 45 version has the background singers on the sax break.
The Atlantic Oldies Series 45 has identical content to the
original Atlantic issue 45 (I own both pressings). The
Stereo was likely mixed later and the wrong tapes pulled
for that remix session. Atlantic was well known for doing
that.
