Pat:

There are over two dozen CDs in the database containing Otis Redding & Carla Thomas' "Tramp" and the song runs between 2:58 and 3:00 on the overwhelming majority of these discs. However, there are two CDs: Rhythm & Blues - 1967 (Time-Life RHD-10) and Solid Gold Soul - 1967 (Time-Life R838-02) where the song only runs 2:50. Just wondering what accounts for this significantly shorter run time? Is it an early fade? Or perhaps a distinct 45, LP, or DJ version/length?

My commercial 45, confirmed as Stax 216, has a listed time of (3:00), but an actual time of (2:57). My 45 is styrene, with machine-stamped deadwax of "S TX-11628-1A    CP".

jimct,

Your Stax 45 is a Columbia pressing. Most likely made in Terre Haute, Indiana at their Columbia plant. And yours is mastered from a dub tape.
