There are several CDs in the database that indicate (45 version but extra bongo beat at 2:19). I just listened to a copy that has this extra beat, and it does sound odd and not quite on rhythm. I edited out the last bongo (about a 1/2 second right before the drums come back in) and it now seems to keep the right tempo. Do I now have the correct 45 version?

Aaron: Perhaps one of the earliest Motown-family-of-labels, mono/stereo promos I've seen is this one. It has the mono side at the familiar actual and running time of(2:52), but the stereo side has a listed and actual time of (2:55). Years ago, I played the stereo side, and just at the point you are now talking about, I said to myself, "Oooh, that just doesn't sound right!" I would be happy to send this (2:55) stereo promo version out to anyone interested in helping us get to the bottom of this song's situation.

I just checked the mono 45 version, and that's exactly what happened. Cutting out that bongo gives you the 45 version. Thank you, Jim!

By the way...the STEREO promo version cannot be created by editing the stereo LP version; they are two completely different mixes. The stereo promo mix is similar to the mono 45 version.
