I have Rocco Granata and the International Quintet's "Marina" on a German import various artists 2-CD compilation called Ciao Ciao Bambina (Repertoire 4648). On it, the song runs 2:42 which is :07 longer than on the lone database CD (which I don't have). Does anyone have a commercial 45 copy who can pass along the song's run time? I'm hoping I have the correct version on the Ciao Ciao Bambina set.

The actual time on my commercial 45 (Laurie 3041) is 2:36. Listed time is 2:35.

Hmmm... Looks like I'm going to have to try to obtain a commercial 45 dub to do some comparing. Unfortunately, the lone database CD containing "Marina" (which runs 2:35) is long out-of-print and nearly impossible to find, so I'm hoping my import disc is the correct version and just needs to be faded early to match the 45 length.

Ed was gracious to supply me with a commercial 45 of Rocco Granata's "Marina". I compared it to the song on my Ciao Ciao Bambina import CD and found they are the same, except the import disc plays at a much faster speed and runs :13 longer. I must say however that I find the sound quality on the Ciao Ciao Bambina disc is excellent and sounds like it came from a first generation tape source.

Well, upon closer listen, it turns out the version of "Marina" on my import CD doesn't exactly match the vinyl 45 after all... Beginning at the :44 mark on the 45, a background vocal can be heard harmonizing during the song's chorus, yet the vocal is missing on the import CD. I'm no longer even certain that the two sources share the same vocal take.
So for anyone looking for the hit version of "Marina" on CD, better snatch up a copy of the lone database disc if you can ever manage to find one.
