"I'm Gonna Miss Her" by Brad Paisley is one of those
country songs that made the Top 40 of the Hot 100 (after
Billboard started incorporating country airplay
into its Hot 100 methodology) and are not listed in the
database.

The only single format in which this song was
commercially released was as a 7-inch single. The
commercial single version differs significantly from the
album version. There are 'nature' sounds on the single
version as well as people 'whooping it up' in places and
joining in on the chorus towards the end of the song,
none of which are on the album version. The 45 states the
run time as 3:23, which is accurate to within a second or
two. The LP version runs about 3:13.

The the best of my knowledge, the 7-inch single remains
the only place this version has ever been commercially
released.

Discogs lists a promo CD single (which I don't have)
described as the 'Radio Edit' for which it states the run
time as 3:17, but I don't know if that is accurate.

I do have the song on the promo CD CDX Volume 286
February 2002
, on which it is described as the 'Radio
Version' and the time is incorrectly stated as 3:17. This
is in fact the commercial single version.

(My apologies. After sixteen years on the board I still
haven't figured out how to properly post a link.)

I was subscribing to RPM Top Hits when this song came out.
They list it as a 'radio version' which includes the nature
sounds and crowd efx. My copy runs 3:13 and appears to
match the commercial single. RPM is known for fading songs
early or ending them early.

I also have a file from PrimeCuts that runs a few seconds
longer at 3:20.

TM Century posts a couple versions. Your PrimeCuts version John is probably the last one.

Those must be listed times as the Prime Cuts file I have
runs longer than the Top Hits file. Top Hits runs 3:15 and
Prime Cuts runs 3:20.

The mix described in the original post with nature sounds and crowd reactions (whoops and sing-alongs a'la "Friends In Low
Places") is the ONLY mix I ever heard played over the air. The summer that this song was making it's way up to number one
on the Hot Country Singles charts, I was taking a road trip from Oklahoma to Massachusetts with my grandfather. Country
music was all he liked so when we weren't listening to the tapes he had in his car, I was in charge of finding the country
station on the radio dial as we made our way through the various states. I lost count of how many times I heard the
crickets and frogs croaking over the opening strains of the acoustic guitar introduction. That's failing to mention the
many following times I got to hear it when we finally got to my grandfather's place in Massachusetts. This song and Joe
Nichols' "The Impossible" will always remind me of that summer. I actually had no idea the LP version was different.
