Well, this song sure turned out to be a challenge to find on this forum!

Unless of course I'm doing something wrong. The song itself hasn't shown in any singular discussion, but did show up in Paul's Top 4000, In the second half, (Top 2000.)
Simply typing [A Girl Like You] without the brackets in a search got me absolutely no hits. Dropping the "A" didn't help, BUT...

I decided to look it up in my closest reference "The Billboard Book Of Top 40 Hits" 8th edition. Surprisingly, it didn't show there either until I dropped the "A".
I knew there was another song by that title by Edwyn Collins. I then went to the front of the "The Songs" area in the back of the book to try and figure out what the
system was for listing songs that begin with "A" or "The" since it seems to frequently be dropped. I'm still trying to figure it out. Is it different in other Billboard books?

From here, I'm going to try to look again in the forum and see if my original search will even take me to this new thread.

Weird stuff!

Our Record Research policy is to drop the article in front
of the title (ex: A Girl Like You becomes Girl Like You).
For one-word titles, we show it after (ex: The River
becomes River, The). This rule only applies to the title
section. The main artist section will show the title as
it appears on the record.

Thanks for the clarification, Paul.

I am either becoming senile, or simply haven't given this policy much thought in the past. It does make sense to do this to keep from having a whole page that starts with the same
word or letter. I can see where that would invite errors in printing, or when reading.

FWIW, I did go back and try to search the title here again after posting. I tried with the "A" and without. Still came up empty in the search.
