I know not everyone here is into current music, but the sound, production and vocals make this sound like I am listening to a 1970's song. Bruno Mars sort of had that retro sound going on Treasure back in 2013, but this just is on another level.

I usually never make a recommendation on what song to listen to as this is not a like/dislike board but every so often someone manages to capture the sound long gone from today's music and it makes my ears rejoice.

Yes Richie,

Anderson Paak & Bruno decided to make a Delfonics record
with that one and the world is better for it!

It's great that it's cool with younger audiences as well
as fans of '70s Soul.

They performed the song at the recent Grammy Awards and
I have been playing it over and over since. It's
currently a big R&B chart song.

The bridge/coda has a Stevie Wonder type vibe to it.
Very Thom Bell Philly style classic soul.

Happy to see it released as a CD single (two actually, the
latter with the live Grammy performance). Limited editions,
alas, and they're already getting expensive.

I prefer the cold ending on the live version. It's also
available as a digital download.

And I was just thinking finally a song that fades! ;)

What is the proper artist credit for this single - Silk
Sonic only or should Mars and Paak be credited as well?
It reminds me of the late 1980s when you had the
Traveling Wilburys and the Trio. The former did not
credit its members individually, but the latter did
(Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt).

I see this song has just moved up to #1 on the
Hot 100 chart. I still have yet to hear either
version, but I was just wondering which of the
two would be considered the "Hit" version -
the Studio or Live Version? Is the Live
Version getting airplay at all? If a CD Single
was released for it, I imagine it must be
getting some amount of airplay.

The studio version is the one they play here where I am in New York Dan.

BTW - this has a listed time of 4:08 but runs 3:58.
This edit cannot be re-created from the LP version.

(Just kidding... carry on) :D

For anyone that wants to know there are 3 versions out:

1) A 3:44 Radio Edit which does not appear to be available via download
2) A 4:02 which is available on download sites
3) A 4:20 which is the 2021 Live version

I'm not aware of anything else that is available.

I have it as Silk Sonic Featuring Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak in my top 40 assembly.

According to Billboard (and the record label), the official artist billing is
Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak)

I played this song the weekend I first received it through
POOL and got an immediate positive response from some
regulars in a restaurant I play at when I don't have
weddings or other events. Of course, these regulars love
any Bruno Mars. It wasn't a hit, but one of their other
Bruno favorites is "Chunky." Luckily, before they stopped
their service, PrimeCuts had a clean version.

Is the 3:44 version perhaps an early fade of the 4:02
version?
