The song was slightly below the Top 40 in 1988, and a big freestyle hit. I have not seen it much on CD at all.

In case anyone didn't know (and thanks to Aaron for a great discussion on this very topic when I sought it out) the 45 version is the Club Edit, which can be made from the 12 inch on Tommy Boy Greatest Beats. The B-Side, which is on the 1988 Polygram All-Stars CD is not the 45. There is no promo CD issued for it.

The correct running time is 4:10 for the 45 version. Guess we learn something new every day...

Hey everyone,

I just shared this with PopArchivist via email but
figured I'd share with the group as well.

The B-Side is the version that I remember Hot 97/Hot
103 playing in NY. Curious if anyone else from the
Tri-State area can recall.

One other interesting tidbit is that the 12" has a
version on it called 7" version and that version is
the B-Side of the 45 and not the Club-Edit.

I heard it as well growing up in NYC too. The A-Side was probably too clubby, a case where the B-Side sounded more polished....
