Great singer...A certain Lennon thought so!

The website indicates rerecording for the stereo version of this
track. Does anyone know when and on what LP or CD this
rerecording first appeared? There WAS a stereo version of the LP
out - what was that version?

The version that I have was included on a Dick Bartley "New Gold On CD" program that our radio station aired the week of July 22, 1996. It is a stereo version that was included as a Bonus Track. I don't know where Mr. Bartley got this stereo version, but it runs 2:41. It could have been the rerecorded version. If it was, I know it dates at least from July, 1996.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I first heard the remake of the
song on 1986 MCA LP "Vintage Music Volume 5".

The Mono original hit wasn't mixed to Stereo, and is from
what I understand no longer extant.

There never was a stereo recording of the
mono hit, Kent, it was done live to mono,
hence the need for a stereo re-record.

Glad to know that it was live to mono. That said, the
Stereo re-recording is a good one. Still like the mono
original best.

Tom,

any idea when that stereo re-record was done and when it first
appeared? Yeah, I know, that's the question I can't get answered.
I do like it - it's not a "cheesy remake".

Unfortunately I don't know when it was
recorded, and the earliest release of it
that I can find, I listed above already

This stereo, and comparatively less intense, remake of
"You Better Move On" also appears on Ripite/EMI's
collection Beach Music Vol. 3. I agree that it's a quite
tastefully done remake and is obviously a vintage
recording so it was done close enough in approach to the
original that some may not even realize that it's not the
same take.
