The George Michael / Wham! song "A Different Corner" is currently listed in Pat's database as "45 version" on the Ladies And Gentlemen compilation. From 1:16 to 1:54 of this version, there is no guitar or vocal ad libs like on the LP version and 45 edit. Again at 3:21 of the Ladies And Gentlemen version, some vocal ad-libs/overdubs are missing compared with the LP and 45.

This version should probably be labeled as "neither."

Aaron, have you checked the other CD listed in the
database with the 45 version? Is that correct?

I can confirm that the correct guitar and vocal parts are on the Twenty Five CD.

My thanks for uncovering this, Aaron. I've had the wrong version in my library for almost 12 years. :)

According to my notes, I used "Edge of Heaven" for my source of "Different Corner" and labeled it "single version". I may have simply done the edit(s) needed to make it the single version. Does anyone recall what distinguishes the single and album versions? Is the beginning of the album version (which perhaps feels more like a precursor to the song) stripped off the single version - or were there other edits done to make the single version?

Also, does anyone know if the 45's B-side, the instrumental version of "Different Corner" ever made it to CD? I'd imagine some Wham/George Michael CD has it as a bonus cut somehwere.

Yes, the single edit is missing the introduction that you hear on the album version. I believe that's the only difference.

The only appearance on CD of the version with the strings intro is on
"Music from the The Edge of Heaven" which was the US counterpart
to Europe's "The Final" which includes the no intro version, so in
Europe it can be considered both album and single version.

Doesn't the version on "Twenty Five" run a bit slower
than the 45 version? Correct me if I am wrong, but if
you speed up the version on "Twenty Five" (4:02) about
1.5%, you get the 45 version (3:58). My copy on "The
Final" runs 3:58.
