I went with Like Omigod because it was the best source that I have. There may be better sources out there.
I won't talk you out of buying any Rhino releases. Overall, they're terrific. They tend to use the lowest-generation source tapes out there, and don't use any noise reduction (as far as I know).
They tend to be mastered with a little more high end than releases on other record companies, which is OK with me.
After about 1996, some of their masterings got a little loud, to compete with other releases in the "loudness wars."
The Like Omigod came out in 2002, and was truly valuable for a handful of tracks that hadn't seen a CD release before that.

Ron, I just took a quick peak at 1971 and I'm very impressed with all the mono/stereo
differences you listed! What do we have to do to motivate you to get more years done?!?

Eliminate my need to sleep! Or to do my day job. Or spend time with my family.
Honestly, the music stuff was much easier to do before we had our son four years ago.
For the mono/stereo designations, I leaned heavily on the info in Pat's database. There's a mountain of great info in there.

I agree Paul, I have always been impressed with how detailed Ron's work is assembling year by year. The easy answer is to clone Ron 10 times so he can finish his assembly, have time to work and for his kids!
Seriously Ron, would tackling the 60's be feasible? I can say your lists are one of the true unheralded resources of the 1971-1998 era. I owe you for all the hard work that you helped inspire by organizing them all together.

I've always preferred the DJ edit of "Nights On Broadway"
though, in 1975, I believe stations in my area played both
the edit and the commercial 45 version.

I noticed a couple things. First, the 372nd biggest hit of 1982 was
"Baby, Come to Me", by Patti Austin w/James Ingram. It's sandwiched
between "Piece of My Heart" and "Situation". I do see it’s under 1983
tho when it was re-released.
You got two songs listed as the 363rd biggest hit of 1982: "How Can I
Live Without Her", and "Make Up Your Mind". One of those should've
been the 363rd biggest hit and one should've been the 362nd biggest
hit. Then I see that there is no 361st biggest hit listed. It skips from 362
to 360.

Thanks to music4life175, I fixed a numbering inconsistency in 1982.
I'd originally compiled 1982 using an earlier version of the Pop Annual book. The 8th edition includes "1999" and "Baby Come To Me", whereas the earlier version only listed those songs in 1983 when they were rereleased. I renumbered all the tracks from #240 onward, and updated the link in the original post.
Thanks to bringing the error to my attention! (Please feel free to point out typos or other errors, too.)

The reissue of Winger’s debut album includes a 1991 remix of Headed
For A Heartbreak (3:37) (single release in 1989), while the reissue of In
The Heart Of The Young includes an edited version of Can’t Get Enuff
(3:34) (single release 1991). My sources are down below.

By late 1975 AM top 40's were beginning to feel the
competition from FM, most of which at the time played
album versions (even the FM Top 40s). Obviously, they
couldn't play the LP versions of "Freebird" or "Do You
Feel Like We Do", but some of the pop stuff, yes.
Even the AMs were trying to get in on the act, playing
a handful of album versions and positioning themselves
as the "album station".
When I was a DJ, there were lots of songs that I
didn't realize that the commercial single was
different from the promo unless I bought a copy...not
all unique promo versions were noted on the label.
Still finding out about some of them today. A bit
surprised some music directors back then took the time
to discover that.
FWIW, I prefer the promo edit of NOB myself.

Again, Kudos to all your hard work on these lists!
A great guide!
One question: "Draggin The Line" from Tommy James, were
any of those on the list refer to the Promo of the song
where the horns are phased sounding with some reverb
added.
That was promo only at the time, but did appear a year
later on some of those golden oldie hit packages
licensed to Radio Stations to sell back then.
The Promo version finally showed up on the Anthology in
2007.
Is the list referring to that version then?

I gave a massive upgrade to all the years 1970-1998, including lots of 12" extended versions, and including many more oddball versions of '90s tracks that were on the CD singles. It works out to about a thousand tracks per year. It's a lot.

Your journey into the 1960's era may take you many many years. If I recall some years entire Hot 100's are 700 songs deep. I doubt most of that lower stuff at 70-100 even made a CD. 1968 and 1969's top 10 are two of my favorites.
I would be interested to know how many of the 1968 and 1969 positions 41-100 are available in stereo?

Pat - I took about two years off from this project, so I could upgrade the Discogs pages for most of the Time-Life and mail-order compilation CDs. (I edited more than 1,000 pages.)
As of now, it's very much alive again. I'm currently working on the year 1999, which should be done in a few weeks. I plan to revisit 1970-1998 (in reverse chronological order), and add in the Bubbling Unders using the same numbering scheme as the Hot 100 tracks. Thanks to some contributors from this forum, I have over 6,000 new tracks to add in to my folders. It will take me some time to sort through all this - probably a full year.
After that, the goal is to attempt to do the same for 1969, 1968, and so forth. I love the late '60s, so I'm looking forward to getting through everything else!
