For anyone interested, Warner Japan is releasing in June a box set with 14 individual cds for each original 45 released in Japan which includes single mixes (most of them never before released on cd).

Great news! Hopefully they're all from tape. Some tracks on the Carpenters singles box, for example, were 45 dubs. And Aaron thinks the "People are Strange" Digital 45 is a disc dub. We shall see. Here's the track listing from CDJapan:

[Disc 1] Light My Fire (Mono Mix/Single Ver.)/Crystal Ship (Mono Mix)
[Disc 2] People Are Strange (Mono Mix)/Unhappy Girl (Mono Mix)

[Disc 11] Riders on the Storm (Edited Short Ver.)/Changeling (Single Ver.)
[Disc 12] Tightrope Ride (Single Ver.)/Variety is the Spice of Life (Single Ver. Previously Unreleased on CD)

Wow, I hope the single version of "Touch Me" is the right version, and from tape! I've been wanting that for a LONG time.

So "Wishful Sinful" was not released as a single in Japan?

is anyone planning on buying this box set?......at $91USD, we may want to pool funds and buy it as a consortium....

I can understand why they would want each single to be its own cd, but that just seems so impractical to me..... I think the smarter thing to do would've been to make it a 45 rpm box set with one cd containing all of the tracks as well.

So what is the difference between
the LP mix and the 45 mix for this single? They should
have included this one remaining single version in this box
set (there may never be another opportunity).

Actually, I'd kind of like to know this too.

Anybody got a good declicked needledrop?

"Wishful Sinful" was remixed similar to the way that "Touch Me" was remixed, with instruments in different places in the stereo field.. I
believe the bass and drum are more in the center.. To give it more punch. I haven't listened in a while but that's what I remember. But unlike
Touch Me, the mono radio version of "Wishful Sinful" sounds like a simple fold down to me. "Touch Me" sounds like a dedicated mono mix. And
it's slower.

Bill, I assume you mean a simple fold down of the stereo single remix
and not of the LP version, right?

Yes, I mean that he DJ mono side sounds to my ears like a fold down of the single remix.

Low and behold this interesting new double CD release is scheduled to be released on Sept. 15th on Rhino/Elektra per the Second Disc website:

The Singles:

The Singles compiles all 20 of the band’s singles from The Doors’ official discography. This not only includes every A and B-side from their best-known studio albums from The Doors (1967) to L.A. Woman (1971) but several albums recorded and released after the passing of frontman Jim Morrison, including Other Voices (1971) and Full Circle (1972) plus An American Prayer (the divisive 1978 album which put Morrison’s poetry recordings to music) and the 1983 live set Alive, She Cried. All tracks are sourced from the original analog single masters and remastered by the band’s engineer Bruce Botnick. That means all the original, unique and rare single mixes and edits will appear in this set, many for the first time on CD. The pot is sweetened even further with the presence of mono radio versions of “Hello, I Love You,” “Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful” and “Tell All the People,” entirely unreleased since their appearance on promotional singles.

Two further deluxe editions will also be available. One adds to the 2CD set a Blu-ray Audio disc of The Best of The Doors. This 1973 album was specifically mixed in four-channel quadraphonic sound and makes its Blu-ray Audio debut here (it was released on SACD by Audio Fidelity in 2015). And a vinyl version, limited to 10,000 copies and available through the band’s official web store, features all 20 45RPM singles in replicas of their original sleeves (with an enclosed poster featuring all those sleeves as well).

Always thought the band didn't want single versions
released. Glad Rhino is releasing this!

I think this is the 1st time that the single, stereo version of "Touch Me" has been released in the US. I'm glad this CD is being released.

Pre-ordered mine today. I believe it's $5.00 cheaper if
you don't get the bonus blu-ray.

Yep, although Amazon and Barnes & Noble say it's a 9/15 release.

Still preordered it anyway. :)
