On the Grass Roots, what's the diff between 45 and LP verisons of:
The River Is Wide
Temptation Eyes
I assume the 45 of I'd Wait A Million Years simply omits the intro.

"Temptation Eyes" features double tracked vocals during the chorus while the LP version has single tracked vocals.
"The River Is Wide" 45 doesn't have the thunder on the introduction like the LP does.

still going thru the database, finding out about differences in 45 and LPs that I wasn't aware of. Only of course the database doesn't necessarily indicate what the differences are.
So, CCR - DOWN ON THE CORNER. does the 45 omit the opening few seconds of percussion?
Roy Orbision - IN DREAMS. what is the difference between LP and the 45?

You guessed correctly regarding "Down On The Corner" LP version having more introductory percussion than the 45.
"In Dreams" is a little more complicated in that the 45 was an edit of several different vocal takes and you can tell from the way Roy sings the line "I Remember That You Said Goodbye" starting at 1:59. Roy holds the "goodbyeeee" longer on the LP version than he does on the 45 version.
Sure is nice to hear from some folks that remember vinyl.

So if I understand correctly, the 45 version intro of "Down on the Corner" begins when the guitar first kicks in? Does the 45 contain any other edits or an early fade?

Yes, the 45 starts where the first guitar lick kicks in and there are no further edits or early fade.

Pat, does this 45 version exist in stereo, or just mono? (The only 45 version that has ever appeared on CD is in mono.)

The single is drier, without as much reverb added, and the vocal is a bit louder.

The only difference I heard throughout In Dreams is from about 2:04 to 2:15 where just one line was different (the same thing happened with Oh Pretty Woman with just one line being changed). I also couldve sworn that my 45 of Down On The Corner was the same as the LP with the extra percussion in the beginning, but i may be wrong as i dont presently have access to it.

okay another one.
LITTLE ANTHONY and THE IMPERIALS 1964 GOIN' OUT OF MY HEAD. since every version of this on CD is the stereo LP version, the question begs to be asked: what's the diff between LP and 45 version?

The 45 and mono LP version of "Goin' Out Of My Head" are a different vocal take than the stereo LP. The stereo LP version also has "ooh" at 2:11 while the 45 version does not.

My turn.
What is the difference between the 45 and LP version of "I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock & Roll Band)" by the Moody Blues? 45s run anywhere from (4:13-4:15)--taking out the one CD that has it running (4:10), LPs run (4:15-4:16).

I believe Pat makes this distinction because on the LP, the song prior to "I'm Just a Singer" bleeds into the intro of this song. I don't have the LP (which is why I can't say for sure), but I have the "LP version" on CDs and it certainly bleeds in with music that fades out over the 1st few seconds of "I"m Just a Singer".

Well, the single came out in the fall of 1972.
The intro was edited by two measures (bars). The 45 also was faded a few seconds earlier than the now common LP version. There are some subtle mix differences as well, but it's been a long time since i've played the 45, so I don't remember much.
I think the 45 is either mono or very narrow stereo, but, since my 45 is so beat up, I can't tell.

Pat, what is the difference between the Lp and 45 versions of:
Association - Six Man Band (I thought the 45 just faded later)
Platters - Twilight Time (they sound pretty much the same to me, except for stereo/e differences)

I will confirm also the 45 of Temptation eyes has double tracked vocals on
the chorus and is in mono. I thought the song was much better with the 45
chorus. I have the 45 (Dunhill?) but it's too scratchy to extract a good
recording. I was so disappointed when I first heard the stereo version and
found the chorus had changed,
