After some email exchanges with Doug, I have come to the conclusion that the version of We've Got Tonight on the "Ultimate Hits" cd is a noble attempt at recreating the 45 version but it is not precisely the 45 version.

It's an edit. It looks like there are a few edits in
the track. I can reverse-engineer the edits if there's
sufficient interest here.

ISTR there being a promo edit of "Hollywood Nights". Anyone
know the edit points on that, or was it just an early fade?

I have an import CD single which has a shorter version
of "Hollywood Nights." I don't have access to my hard
drives at the moment, (packed up for a wedding today),
but I seem to recall it might be an edit or multiple
edits.

The version I have runs 3:12 and fades. Not sure if it
matches the DJ edit on 45.

Ron, did you ever get around to doing this? I'm not sure if the previous posters still require these instructions, but I certainly do. Any chance you have them noted down somewhere?

I set up a dedicated thread for Even Now.

The promo 45 has one edit in the intro and an early fade.

Not a top 40 hit, but the 45 for "The Horizontal Bop"
from Bob Seger has a listed time of 3:20. The album
version runs 4:03.

Anyone who has the 45, is it an early fade or edit(s)?
If there are edits, can anyone specify where?

Thanks to Yah Shure for the assist, the 45 of "The
Horizontal Bop" is an early fade from 3:10-3:22.

Was the radio version / commercial single versions of "Old Time Rock And Roll" the same as the album version?

Also, was the version that hit #48 on the charts in 1983 (after Risky Business) the same mix/length?

I don't ever remember hearing any other version, but I've been surprised in the past so I thought I'd ask.

Yes, single/album versions exactly the same on both single
releases.

I notice that the "Risky Business" soundtrack (which also includes Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight") isn't listed in the DB. I think my copy may be an import, but was there never a domestic CD release?

I never saw a domestic LP or CD of the "Risky Business"
soundtrack, only imports, usually from the UK.

I'm comparing the 45 of Seger's "It's You" with the album/CD version on "Like a Rock". It's been said the single is different from the album, but I'm not hearing any mix differences. And maybe the single fades 1 second early, but that's not usually a reason for saying the single's different. Can someone tell me what the differences are between the single and labum of this?

Forgot to mention - if the song was its own thread I'd have listed it as O/T. It peaked below 40. At 52. So it won't be in the database. That's why I'm hoping someone here will know

I noticed a post from a few years back about "Hollywood
Nights". The promo 45 is 3:14 and the LP Version is
5:02. Listened again to both and the 45 is edited pretty
heavy from the LP. I counted I think 6 edit points. The
commercial single is the LP version. It sounds to me the
promo is pitched up a little higher.

Though a flac I received indicates "45 version" for "It's You" by Seger, I A-B'd it closely with the album version and find them to be identical in every way. So unless there's something minute I missed, there is no single version of "It's You". :) BTW, you guys have been a wealth of info regarding below-top-40 single versions! Since we don't have the book or database for those, we just have what people report or share here, and lately I've been updating my CDR collection to replace album versions with single versions (hence my splurge of recent posts lately!)- I really hadn't updated any versions in the last couple years - and with Ron G's help and others, I've discovered so many single versions I didn't know existed lately for these lower charters, (e.g. "Emotion" by Streisand, "Through the Fire" by Chaka, "Eenie Meenie" by Jeffrey Osborne, "Frankie" by Sister Sledge, "Jole Blon" by Gary US Bonds, "And She Was"/Talking Heads, "Somewhere" by Steisand - not surprising ... that intro is SOOO long. Anyway, thanks to everyone for their help! And if an occasional file shows up that's labeled "single version" and it's not (like this and "Love Pains"), it's worth going through to find all the great gems that do exist!
