Was looking at some older posts and references are made to the edit version of this song. Can the 45 be extracted from the LP (I'm assuming the listed time of (5:48) is correct)?

Doug:

Just checked on ebay. They have label scans of both the commercial and DJ 45's and they both have a label time of 5:48. Perhaps, the edit was on the flip side of the DJ 45.

I think the edit was on the commercial side as well, John--the LP version runs (7:03).

I timed the 45 at 5:46, but it was a little difficult to get the exact starting point (it's a fade-in), so I could be off by a second or so.

I can't remember the exact points, but the 45 truncates the intro and fades-in much later than the LP, and I think it has a truncated fade out.

Oops, my bad, I don't have that track in my active music library and hadn't played it for awhile, so I was unaware of the 7:03/5:48 difference.

I believe the 45 version is just a late fade in and
early fade out. Starting with the The Nylon
Curtain
, keep the section from 0:35 to 6:26. As
others have mentioned, the chopper fade in/out gets lost
in the noise on vinyl, so it's hard to be too precise,
but boosting the sound, my promo copy seems to run at
least 5:49, maybe 5:50, and is also about one second
shorter due to speed variations.
