A poster on Superdeluxeediton says that the "Edge of Seventeen" version on the single CD compilation is neither the US single version nor the UK single version (it restores a refrain cut from the single versions) Any confirmation?
Just listened again to "Edge Of Seventeen" on this new release and it matches the version found on this CD in the database which is listed as having the 45 version on it:
JCI 3147 1980 - Only Love - 1984

Hope this helps.

Santi,

Picked up the CD for the single versions (and because Stevie Nicks is one of my favorite artists).

First off while few have been critical of the Sounds of the Seventies 1983 comp which is the only other CD to have the correct 45 version of Stand Back, this sounds more in line with what the LP version found on her latest collections sounds like, even if its a little louder. I would go as far to say that if it is a choice between the 1983 comp and this, I choose this CD. To each their own but the remastering does make a difference.

Leather and Lace's 45 version makes its official debut on CD. Cross that top 10 hit off the list of unreleased songs...

Edge of Seventeen is the 45 version...sounds great! Again I would take this over the 1980-1984 Only Love comp.

Rooms on Fire runs a few seconds too long. The 7 inch correctly begins to fade at 4:13 and ends at 4:24, while this CD release of the song begins to fade at 4:17 and ends at 4:28. So sorry folks, not the correct version yet again.

If Anyone Falls is the 45 version. No difference.

Talk To Me is the 45 version. No difference.

I Can't Wait is the 45 version. Sounds better than what I have due to the remastering.

As far as the rest of the CD I don't know many of her post 1989 albums that well, but if you like Nicks, this one CD is probably all you need of her 45's and singles in your collection.

I recommend this comp for no other reason than Leather and Lace's 45 version isn't available anywhere else. I wasn't impressed with the one you speak of a few years ago, but then it didn't offer her single versions....

The label of the U.S. 45 of "Edge Of Seventeen" (Modern
Records MR 7401) lists the time as 4:10. Can I assume this
is incorrect?

On the new collection, does Rooms On Fire run at a
slower speed instead of a later fade out?

I compared the new Greatest Hits file with another file I
had that had the correct fade. The new greatest hits does
have a later fade.
