Todd had posted this in an earlier thread for the promo CD single:

TEARS FOR FEARS - WOMAN IN CHAINS (Fontana CDP 163)
1) Edit - 4:42
2) Single Version - 5:27

I have a different promo CD single, listed as Fontana "876 249-2 (DJ)", which has four tracks:
1) Woman In Chains (printed 5:28)
2) Always In The Past (printed 4:38)
3) My Life In The Suicide Ranks (printed 4:38)
4) Woman In Chains (Instrumental) (printed 6:31)

The instrumental is an enlightening listen; usually you're concentrating too much on Oleta Adams' spellbinding vocals to hear the sophisticated, slinky backing track, with Phil Collins on drums!

Through the miracle of digital editing tools, I can give you extremely precise instructions on how to recreate the single (5:28) version, based on the version on the original pressing of The Seeds Of Love (Fontana 838 730-2, 1989).

The single I have is digitally exactly 0.2 dB louder than The Seeds Of Love, so first raise the volume 0.2 dB.

Then, insert a fade from 5:18.12-6:04.75. Finally, cut off the first 36.27 seconds, and you'll have the 5:28 single.

The fade should start at 4:42.11 in your single version and end at 5:28.8.

That has to be one of the longest fade outs next to "Hey Jude."

Could the 4:42 version and the 4:32 version be the same.... and does anybody know the edit points for it?

I have CDP 163, and the above track list doesn't match my disc. Here's what's on mine:

1. non-described version (actual 4:42)
2. LP Version (actual 5:28)

There are no listed times for this disc.

Bumping this up as to if anyone know's if the 4:32 version that Ed references is actually on a US promo single.

The Seeds of Love box set contains two US radio edits, the
second of which is a little shorter as it actually removes
Roland's "you better love better..." vocals and instead
starts with Oleta's vocal part.

That's odd as my copy of The Seeds Of Love box set only
includes 1 US radio edit. Disc 2 on my set contain 16
tracks.

I have the deluxe edition with 4 CDs and the 5.1 remix on
bluray. Disc 3 (titled "The Moon - Radio Edits & Early
Mixes) contains the second US edit.
