I've finally tracked down the promo single of Silent Lucidity by Queensryche, one of my all time favorites. I didn't know there was an edit until a few years ago, thanks to this site.
Unfortunately, the cd rear jacket reads 4:59, the cd cover itself reads 4:59, but on the cd is the album version clocking in at 5:44, the only version I have ever heard or known. The cd number is EMI DPRO-4700.

Can anyone confirm a 4:59 version?

Yes, if anyone has done edits for this song, please share where in the song they are... Aaron, Ron, Ed, Doug? :)

Gary, I agree. This is a fantastic record, but unfortunately I cannot confirm a shorter version than the one we know. It might just be that the database is stating the printed time in the song notes section. My GoldDisc library also has the full 5:44 version.

Even the video on the Queensryche web site is the full LP version. If any edit were available, you would think it would have been used on the video. Of course, there really may be an official edit floating around, but I've never heard it.

I don't remember my edit points, but I have an edit I
made that runs 4:55. Guitar solo and final guitar notes
are trimmed. I can send a reference copy if anyone's
interested.

I just heard an edit of "Lucidity" on an old "Casey's
Top 40". This was pretty
aggressive, down to ~4:00 - cutting out most of the
spooky bridge to the final
chorus. This was likely an in-house edit, but it piqued
my curiosity.

On Discogs, the elusive 4:59 edit is listed on some
other releases, including
the Australian 7" promo and a
promo comp from Capitol
Records
Canada
.
To Gary's point, these listed times may be wrong but the
edit may exist
somewhere. Does anyone have either of these?

If an edit exists, it's news to me as well. We played the
full version at the station I worked at in '91.

Is this a classic case of record companies purposely printing an
incorrect shorter time on the label hoping to get airplay?

Based on the promo above, it would seem a 4:59 would exist. Guess one day we will find out..

Returning to the post, Silent Lucidity (Single Edit),
exists and was released in 2021 in the Empire album box.

I have the Capitol Records Promo Vol #34, the disc and
cover shows the runtime of 4.59 indicating the Single
Edit, but the disc plays the 5.48 LP Version. The only CD
where I have found the Single Edit is on the 3 disc super
deluxe Empire box set which is actually a vinyl dub.

If the 'edit' is a vinyl dub, where did the edit originate
from?
