I have a promo CD single for this (1102-2-JDJ). This might be one to pick up, as neither of the more popular radio tracks (cuts 1 & 2) have appeared on a domestic CD:

1-Single Edit (listed 4:20; actual 4:21)
2-U.K. Mix (listed 4:10; actual 4:09)
3-Full Force Naughty House Mix (listed 6:34; actual 6:36)
4-Special Extended Mix (listed and actual 5:52)

Looks like you've been digging deeply into your '80s promo CD singles library this weekend, Jim. I really appreciate all the new information you're passing along to us!

A while back, I had inquired about "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)" and had wondered if the 3:20 version that has commonly appeared on CD with the: (neither the 45, LP nor 12” single version) comment is possibly the U.K. single version. I never received a definitive answer to my question but, judging by the 4:10 run time for the so-called "U.K. Mix" on your promo CD single, Jim, it looks like this mystery 3:20 edit that keeps appearing on CD is not the U.K. single version either. Hmmm....

Regarding "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)", the database currently notes the DJ CD single info Jim reported above. Abagon informs me the actual and printed commercial 45 run time is 4:20. I've done further research on commercial 45 copies and they all indicate "Full Force Mix" on the record label. This should probably be noted in the database as well.

Now, I'd be curious to know if the "Full Force Mix" on the commercial 45 is identical to the "Single Edit" on Jim's promo CD single. My guess is they are, but one can't be 100% certain without checking... especially in a case like this where a number of different edits and mixes exist for this song.

I really appreciate the info concerning all the late 80's tunes mentioned.
Their almost forgotten when it comes to the decade, much like the early 80's.
Most stick to the 83-87 model when it comes to the 80's hits, with a few from the beginning and end of the decade.

The self titled "Samantha Fox" album has recently been released with bonus
tracks that includes the Special Extended Version of "Naughty Girls"

I owned the 12" as a kid and remember the "Special Extended Version" being
longer but not necessarily remixed. Does anyone know if the 45 version can
be created from that mix? Would love to own the 45 version and will pick up
the new CD if I knew that I could create it.

I have the 12" single, which has three mixes:

1 - Special Extended Mix (listed/actual 5:52)
2 - Full Force Naughty House Mix (listed 6:34, actual ?)
3 - Single Edit (listed/actual 4:20)

As far as I can tell, mix #3 is the commercial 45 mix.
It seems you can cut mix #1 to get to the edit, so if the
CD has the Special Extended Mix, you're in luck. (The
Naughty House Mix sounds much different from the 45.)

Starting with the 12" mix, copy these sections to make
the edit. I believe the cuts are all on the downbeats.
Note one edit is out of sequence.

0:15 - 3:26
3:35 - 3:57
4:05 - 4:09
4:43 - 5:09
4:09 - 4:26
5:09 - 5:09

Regarding the 12" vinyl: if you believe Discogs, there wasn't a vinyl 12" released in the United States of this song... which I find VERY difficult to believe.

My difficulty is in trying to determine which version was likely played most in clubs at the time: the "Special Extended Mix" (track 1 on the 12" around the world) or the "Full Force Naughty House Mix" (which is the first extended version on the CD, and significantly remixed as Eric pointed out).

Obviously any DJ could play any track and I also know many went looking for imports... but that path of least resistance would have been track one, side A, of the U.S. release.

Can anyone provide any insight on this? (And if there WAS a USA 12", could you go put the info in Discogs, please?) :-)

It’s there. This is the one I have…

12” single on Discogs

As for club play, I was too young for the scene in 1988, but I know
Ultimix reworked the lead cut.

I was serviced the promo version of that 12-inch single.

In the bars and clubs I played the "Special Extended
Mix". Every night. It was a big dancefloor filler.
