I just compared the 45 version of "Do You Love What You Feel" by Rufus & Chaka Khan to the LP version. Although the database currently uses "LP length" and "45 length," this should be amended to say "version."
If you listen to the opening drum intro, you'll hear that there is quite a bit more reverb on the LP version percussion than there is on the 45. Specifically, the cowbell has a ton of reverb on the LP, but it is dry on the 45.
One other major difference is that the 45 version is sped up by nearly 3%, which is quite a significant pitch change. I'm hoping that the Q box set has the correct mix.

Thanks to Doug (sriv94), I have been able to confirm that the Quincy Jones box set does include the correct 45 mix/speed/length of "Do You Love..."

I may be able to shed some light on this.
First, Aaron, did you compare the song on the vinyl LP or the CD of the album? The reason I ask is because if you used the CD of "Masterjam", the mastering was compressed, and/or the tape used was not a first generation tape. If you go back to the original 1979 vinyl LP, you will hear it sound like the 45, with the dry cowbell.
There is no different mix.

Hits Man, I checked the version on Love Funk and Best Of..., which both have reverb on the cowbell. You bring up a good point, though. If the original LP of Masterjam does not have reverb on the cowbell, then we'll have a very long list of "neither LP nor 45 version" listings in the database. The mix difference I'm hearing has nothing to do with compression; there is clearly added reverb on those CDs when compared with the 45 version.
Pat, I see you've already made amendments to the database. I should've been clearer in my earlier post that I checked what I thought to be the LP version from those compilation discs. I did check the actual vinyl 45, though. It does indeed match the Q box set version. Does your vinyl LP match the CD LP versions, or do we truly have a situation where a "neither" version has replaced the original LP version.

Aaron,
I do have the Very best Of CD, and the sound is more like the vinyl LP, except that it is compressed somewhat. This would indeed appear to give the impression of added reverb.

I'm also hearing more reverb on the vocals of the "remixed" version.

I have Rock On 1980, and it also has reverb on the cowbell and vocals. This one will also need the "remixed" comment.

Pat, I just had a chance to listen to the actual vinyl LP of Masterjam, and what you're calling "remixed" is, in fact, the LP version. There IS reverb on the cowbell of the LP version, while it is dry on the 45. This can be hard to spot unless you're listening in headphones or unless you have your stereo panned all the way to the left. This is because the bongos have reverb on both versions.
All database entries that say "remixed" or "LP length" should say "LP version." The lone "45 length" comment should read "45 version."

I am going to do an about face on this mix. I previously reported that the vinyl LP version was the same mix as the cd version found on the "Masterjam" LP and CD. Now I feel that the CD version was remixed to include the added reverb on the cowbell. I hear this reverb on every cd in the database with the exception of "The Musical Biography Of Quincy Jones" so I am going to add the comment "remixed" to every other cd until someone can convince me that the vinyl LP version found on Masterjam also has the reverb on the cowbell.

I checked the actual vinyl LP, and it does have the extra reverb. Perhaps there are two different pressings of the LP. When I revisit my friend's house, I'll dub the LP and write down the matrix number.

The rare Promo 12" has an entire string arrangement that appears nowhere else, and a running time at least two minutes longer, as I recall.
Excellent song!

Looks like it's been almost 10 years since the last post in this thread.
Did anybody ever make a determination on whether the CD versions
that contain the remix notation are actually the vinyl LP version? I'd be
interested to know since none of the entries in the database currently
indicate an official LP or 45 version (except for one that needs a speed
adjustment).

Aaron's comment above indicates that the Quincy Jones
box set has this song in the correct mix/speed/length,
but the database still says "slower than the 45." Can
someone weigh in on which is correct?

I just retrieved my old 45 dub, and my earlier post is not correct about the speed. The Q box set does run slow by 2%. The actual 45 run time is 3:55.
