I have the 2001 "Best Of", and I don't see any indication that it was created specifically for the compilation. There's no indication in the liner notes about it being "Previously Unreleased" or a "New Mix" or some such term. Only the last song on the comp, "Waiting In My Dreams", is specifically labelled as being "Previously Unreleased". In fact, the back inlay of the compilation actually says, " The Best Of Mr. Mister features all their hits - in the original single versions -along with a previously unreleased track and rare, never-before-seen photos". The scenario that Jason mentioned earlier about the LP Version possibly being accidentally used on the 45 instead of the Mike Shipley remix seems like a plausible explanation as to why no one has seemed to find the remix on any pressings of the 45. Also, while the 45 gives a remix credit to Mike Shipley, the Dance Mix on the 12" gives remix credit to Victor Flores. So if the remix appearing on the 2001's "Best Of" is edited down from the 12" and is the version that was meant to be on the 45, shouldn't both gentlemen have been given credit on the 45 label? Unfortunately, the "Best Of" compilation doesn't give any remix credits in the liner notes, only production credits to Paul DeVillers & Mr. Mister. |

Jus to clarify, Mike Shipley is credited with remixing 4 tracks on Welcome To The Real World, including Is It Love. So any use of the LP version with Shipley's remix credit is correct. Which I guess puts us back to the original question of where the single edit of Victor Flores' Dance Mix originally appeared. I always assumed it was released on a 45 somewhere circa 1986, so I'm surprised there's no evidence of that. (So far, anyway!) |

Thanks for pointing this out, David, as I failed to
notice that Shipley also gets credit as remixing the original LP version. This single edit of the Victor Flores Dance Mix probably was done at the time but remained in the vaults until it was pulled for the 2001 Best Of compilation, in which the compilers assumed that it was officially released on the 45. |

I just came across an unusual listing for "Is It Love" on Discogs. This listing is from Peru and the label says "33 1/3 RPM" but you can clearly see
from the photo that it's a 45. Its title is "Is It Love (Es Esto Amor) (Dance Mix)". No listed running time on the label or from Discogs, so no way to tell if it's the remix on the 2001 "Best Of" or the full Dance Remix on the 12" Single. All other listings on Discogs from other countries seem to be the same as the US 45. Is It Love (Es Esto Amor) (Dance Mix) |

Some 7" singles run 33 1/3, so it's possible that single has the full 12" dance remix. I'd say it's doubtful that Peru is the only country that released the short remix on vinyl.
