What is the difference between Billboard's Pop Airplay (a 40 position chart)
& their Radio Songs chart (a top 50)? Which radio station genres are included or excluded, making them differ? Also as for the BDS (Broadcast Data Systems) charts - which parallel the Billboard charts - I believe their "Mainstream Top 40" chart is equivalent to Billboard's Pop Airplay chart, right? Also, it seems the BDS charts are no longer at the same links (maybe they're now for pay only - or just completely gone?) But if they still exist, does anyone have the new links? They were quite cool as they had Canadian charts (etc.) which were not on Billboard online (I think). My subscription to Billboard digital expires in a week or 2. I barely ever use it because each week I'd go to the BDS charts to check the ones important to me. I wasn't going to renew Billboard but if it's the only way to see all these charts online, I'll probably renew on Cyber Monday (it's cheaper than even Black Friday, at least it was last year). Gordon,
I went to bdsradio.com/#/login and there was a notice that BDS has partnered with Mediabase and that Mediabase now powers the airplay data in the U.S. and Canada. All BDS products have been shut down. If you're interested in the Mediabase charts, you can access them through allaccess.com but you do have to sign up for a free account. |

John, thanks for the fast response. But when I went to the website, it only
allows the option to login, not sign up. I tried on both safari and google chrome. Same results. Anyone know how I can sign up for Mediabase charts? I looked at the list of charts. It looks really good and at first glance, probably all the same charts. |

Once you're registered, look for the Mediabase tab and the
dropdown song charts. |

I'm able to access the Mediabase charts here without
having to log in or sign up: https://www2.mediabase.com/mbapp/Account/Login? ReturnUrl=%2Fmbapp%2F As for Billboard's Canadian airplay charts, even though I don't see them anywhere as I attempt to navigate through Billboard.com, I'm somehow able to access them via these links: https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-ac/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-all-format- airplay/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-chr-top-40/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-country/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-hot-ac/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/canada-rock/ |

Here are 4 charts I found by googling. You don't have to log in.
Hot AC http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/allaboutcountry/Charts.asp? format=A2R AC http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/allaboutcountry/Charts.asp? format=A1R Top 40 http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/allaboutcountry/Charts.asp? format=H1R Alternative http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/fmqb/charts.asp?format=5 But I can't find a main list - and I wasn't able to sign up, btw. The email that was supposed to be sent to me never arrived in my inbox or spam mail. Can anyone give me the links for charts for dance/electronic related? Also - if anyone can tell me exactly how these 2 differ - Billboard's Pop Airplay (a 40 position chart) & their Radio Songs chart (a top 50) Is the top 50 one also on mediadatabase? I know Broadcast data systems and Billboard use different names for the same chart because one is more industry related and the other more consumer related. Like Mainstream on one is Top 40 on the other. And Hot AC on one is Adult Top 40 on the other. Or at least that's how it used to be. Edited by EdisonLite |

I'll probably use that for the Hot 100. On my phone, the Billboard Hot 100 is almost unreadable (from the Billboard app). Something many of us have discussed here before. And they haven't even fixed the issue in all this time. It's a little better on a computer screen but still has issues. Edited by EdisonLite |

I just noticed Mediabase's Hot AC chart doesn't match Billboard's Adult Pop
Airplay chart. For instance, on one, Jax's "Victoria's Secret" has been #7 for 2 weeks, and the other it's been #8 for 2 weeks. I thought these 2 charts were the same. Also, the regular AC charts don't line up between the two. I thought maybe one chart was one week behind the other but that's not the case. So I'm guessing BDS/Mediabase's Top 40 chart doesn't line up with Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 or Radio Songs (Top 50). What's the situation here? I like to keep a list of of peak positions of all my favorite songs but these slight differences are starting to make my head spin :) |
