The cassette single of Londonbeat's 'A Better Love' is the remix by Humberto Garcia. (The song was not released in any other single format.) The original LP/CD mix was by Martyn Phillips.

Of course the promo CD single was also mixed by Humberto Gatica.

I always thought the version of "A Better Love" on Londonbeat's In the Blood CD (Radioactive/MCA 10192) was the same one played on the radio. What is the difference between the LP mix and the single remix?

The single mix's most noticible diference is more reverb on the lead vocal. There are other minor differences as well; the single mix is best described as being more slick.

The intros are also completely different.

Not in the US (commercially), but I have the UK CD single, which does have what's called The Umberto Mix, running about 3:58. Track listing: 1. A Better Love (The Umberto Mix) 2. I've Been Thinking About You (Acoustic) 3. A Better Love (Acoustic) 4. I've Been Thinking About You (7") The 7" version of "Thinking About You" here has the drums on the intro, which are missing from the promo CD version. Not sure if the 45/cassingle had the introductory drums or not. Edited by Brian W. |

my commercial cassingle issued as radioactive 54101 does not state a version on either the cassingle itself or the sleeve nor does it list a run time but the back of the cardboard sleeve does state the version is "mixed by humberto gatica" and it runs 4:04...i found the proper cassingle version on the promo cd single cd45-1397.....jim or andrew do you have any further details about this promo cd single??.....this cassingle run time info s/b be added to the db.....

Although I don't have the actual disc, I have the files from the following promo CD single:
CD45-1531 1. CHR Mix (listed & actual 4:05) 2. AC Mix (listed 4:03; actual 4:02) 3. Power Mix (listed 4:04; actual 4:06) The CHR Mix from this promo is the exact same Humberto Gatica mix found on the 1-track US promo CD (CD45-1397). The AC Mix is very similar to the CHR Mix, but it strips out the electric guitar and softens the sound of the drums a bit. (Unlike the discussion on Richard Marx's "Angelia" in another thread, this one does actually have discernible mix differences.) |

I also noticed the Album Version starts with a guitar strum heard at low volume for the first second, then comes on full-throttle. The Single Version cuts out that one second strum. |
